Electric Radiator Fan

Postby mattawajeep » Tue Jul 30, 2013 10:05 am

Looking for a cheapo electric radiator fan for an engine testing stand.

Anyone have anything out there?

Doesn't have to be good, my testing radiator was free, and is huge, so I can piece multiple ones on it.

I'd look for a Taurus one from the wrecking yard.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Yeah, was thinking about running out there today if I have time to see what I can find.

An auto-Cherokee setup doesn't hardly work on an XJ, but it might serve your purpose too.

Yeah, 3 of those might be enough. If I can't find anything I can be super redneck and just stick a garden hose in the radiator.

How about a household box fan? If you happen to have an extra floating around.

I have a 12" (I think...) electric fan with variable temp controller if you're interested... I had it in my flatty when I did the power steering conversion a couple years ago. Worked fine. $25 for the works?
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

I did think about that, also considered the shop vac, and the air compressor.

That sounds fair, I'm going to need one with a temp controller anyway. I'll see if I can meet up with you tonight, grab the fan and the wheels.

I think one of those would work great for the gladiator itself. Is either one a two speed fan?

Don't need it real soon, the little one I got from toby might be enough since stuff on the test stand won't be under load. You gonna be around for the next meeting?

How much you want for one of them? If you PM me your address I can give my brother some cash and have him pick it up for me Thursday or Friday.

I think I'm set, got the one from Toby, and the taurus fan from Chris. Thanks though!
