Really? The 7k trailers weigh 2100 lbs, the JK is 5k stock...

7k will be fine just don't put both of them on it...

Sounds like a winner! 7k it is. Found a new one for $2590 but talked him down to $2350, gonna hit him at $2200. Worse case I get for $2350.

Having BTDT, take a VERY good look at the frame extensions on that chassis. Those longer Class C setups are not rated for much towing capacity, specifically tongue weight, and with a JKU on a trailer you'll have gobs of it. I towed both of our JKU's behind our 31' Coachman a few times and never had an issue, but it always worried me And after going over the pass to Seattle and back this past weekend, I can't imagine a few trips over roads like that (or anywhere in Idaho ) and not seeing some signs of chassis flex in the coach siding...

^X2. I'm sure you could beef it up if need be. One of the reasons why we bought the shortest model on the bigger E450 chassis. Short rear overhang for towing, but we are not fond of the corner bed that goes with it.

I would also not rule out the 10k axles on a trailer if you can find one at a reasonable price. My TJ weighs over 4k and my trailer over 2k. I'm pretty close to the limit without all the other junk I take with me.

I've way overloaded my 7k trailer a few times and its held up fine. Just keep the air pressures good on the tires and pack the wheel bearings once in a while and it will be fine. Just make sure it's a well built trailer.

Yep. . .crawl under that coach and inspect with your stink eye on full. . .If you reinforce it now, it will be good in the long haul. I came from the RV bizz many moons ago. And, as I'm sure Wrench will tell you, a lot of the frame extensions on motorhomes are barely enough to hold up a full black water tank. . .let alone 1,000lbs of tongue on a 7500lb trailer on a buckled interestate at 65mph.

I hate to say it, but with all the crapola' they pack on those rigs, once the RV is assembled it is pretty hard to beef up the frame extensions. Unless they left you some room, it is likely the easiest way is to drop the fuel tank for access.

I am still pounding the summer rush hard. Things will calm down once school is back in session.

Exactly what I found with our Coachman, and a big part of why we dumped Minivan v2.0 for something (much) lighter.
