9,000# sumimt winch

At Ben W's suggestion I did some research and decided to buy the Summit 9,000lb winch which is a re badged T max

I am not excited about how far the fairlead sticks out, but I was lazy and did not modify the core support

it cost me just over $451 for the winch and isolator, delivered to my door and was here in 3 days. I also used some of brian D's pre fab tabs to mount the fair lead to the winch plate.
the instructions say T-max in 1 spot and the inside of the relay box says T-max and the insulation on the supplied wire says T- Max, so far so good I just need to make a couple of changes but it is ready <s><img><s>

I learned from experience that the fairlead should not be the furthest thing out on the front of the rig. I very often "nudge" objects and now my fairlead doesn't roll any more. . .

it is a large fairlead and it was built crooked , wich bothers me I might have my friend Brian make me a haws fairlead out of something soft <!-- s:scratch: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/scratch.gif" alt=":scratch:" title="Scratch" /><!-- s:scratch: -->

if you are running steel cable im 99% sure you have to run a steel hawse style fairlead as anything "soft" will be eaten (i.e. alum. or the new plastic ones) for those you must use winch rope

so far the summit winch has treated me well, and the only complaint I have is the Free spool lever is not attached worth a damn
