hood vents
hood vents
just wondering if anyone has put a pair of the hood vents on and any suggestions about how or where to put them would be appreciated
That is about where mine always sits. I think the newer engines are set up to run on the hot side for emmision reasons.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Sell that thing and buy a 4 banger.
So those extra 2 cylinders are just making heat? Now I really feel bad for those V8 guys!

That will be interesting because I'll bet the engine has a 190-195 stat in it, so cooling from 210 to 185 might be a little hard.
On the other hand, can't hurt to vent heat, and if you do it right it will keep your window clear in the winter time.

As goofy as it sounds just putting some 3/4" spacers between the hood hinges and the hood on a xj/zj etc will drop the temp about 10* The poor engine compartment is so full of CRAP that no air can move through it.
Swapping out to a 185* thermostat is fine but some of the 'puters are so touchy for temp that they will dump fuel in because they think the engine is still heating up.
hood vents
Yeah iaccocca they are the gen right vents, i have been happy with the products that I have bought from them.
I'd like to see your finished project. How are you going to cut the holes in your hood? You are a braver man than me.

vents
after reading the directions I was alittle worried about water getting through the vents and onto my engine. they say to keep the vents away from any wiring, alternator, ect. and if you have a open air intake system which i do. so that slowed me down from just putting them were i liked them. they say you can cut out the whole middle piece out or you can drill a bunch of 1/4 inch holes to let the heat out. I think i am going with the drill, that way i have some room if i make a mistake. after I get it done with it I will post pics. from the pics they seem like they will look really good, their flat black with stainless steel rivets around the outside.
