I have been thinking about building a rear bumper with tire swing so i can carry a spare tire. It wont be welded by me because we have seen how my welds hold up. But what do you think of this rough drawing as an idea?

Scott, talk to Jose  Drawing looks to be a good start :!: Are you going to work in an antenna and gas can mount as well :?:

I have already talked to jose i was just seeing what everyone else thought. And im not sure about the gas mount but an antenna mount will be easy to add later on down the road or when we finish.

The left side will probably need more support than just the latch, maybe just a plate for the bottom bar to sit on while closed. This will help the the bouncing fatigue at the pivot mount.

There are a couple of places that sell bearing mounts for the right side (to lazy to look right now) but it looks like there is a bushing mount of some sort there now, I'd point you toward more of wheel spindle type set up.

I believe the latch shown can be gotten at Fastener in Richland.

As for the antenna, that is a sucky place for performance but very common place, Jeep suck for ground planes anyway so unless you mount the antenna in the middle of the hood, this will work as good as anywhere else.

Nice job on the bumper, what did you end up using for the tire carrier pivot?

i used a 1.25" D bolt with a bronze bushing as the pivot

Looks guud. . .I actually don't mind the stinger. Reminds me of a tow bar. Also, the bronze bushing for the pivot is a nice touch. Is the tire mount on a receiver? Does it rattle?

it is on a reciever and it doesnt rattle just driving down the road. when i hit a big bump at low speeds you can kinda hear it but its not bad, overall i am very happy with it.

Scott, great job, looks like ya been busy this weekend. The stingger doesn't look quite so gay now that it's mounted.

The rear bumber looks great too. You might want to figure out how to mount a flashlight on that spare so ya don't get busted at night.

Ok the bumpers are finally done for now. I know the plate on the front one is crooked but i dont really care that much. and there is a light that works on the plate in the rear, but here are the finished pics.
