Randy passed this on to me.
May 7 2010 The Southeastern Oregon Resource Management Plan (2002) and the Lakeview Resource Management Plan (2003) have been under attack by ONDA Since they released their Record of Decision. ONDA has filed and gained the courts' favor of closing off OHVs and Grazing from these two public lands. The courts also found in favor of ONDA that all of these public lands should be Wilderness. We the public have rights also and the BLM is saying to the courts that public comment needs to be heard prior to closing these lands to OHVs, Grazing and making their jobs obsolete by all lands in the north and south of eastern Oregon becoming "Wilderness". Vale and Lakeview BLM lands make up over one third of the public lands in Oregon.
We the public have one chance to stop this nonsense. We must write ASAP to get on the mailing list for the Amendments to these two Records of Decision. At this time to get on this mailing list, it only takes a simple comment stating: that OHVs are a legitimate use of public lands, Grazing is acceptable on public lands and no lands within these districts should be consider nor become wilderness but primitive back country allowing motorized access for all Americans to enjoy should be considered. At this time, make this statement brief and short. Why you are concerned and your name and address must be written clearly.
The comment period and public meeting will happen only if the public shows clearly that they are appalled at the courts decisions and want additional an comment period for these three issues.
We need you to write and ask to be put on this mailing list. Yes, there might be a little dramatization here but the fact remains that these lands will be closed to most Americans is real.
