Teenager Car

Postby OldGreen » Sun Jul 07, 2013 11:25 am

What would be a good teenager car??

My first thought is to get another XJ and have it be O's replacement after the kid is a little older. . .but. . .

What if you had 20x Benji's and needed a ride for your little girl?

BTW, my brother's Jessica loves her Commander!

I still think it looks like a black Frigidaire on wheels!

What about a smaller pickup? Less seats mean less friends and distractions.
Not that it would be curb proof.

I would say something small and economical with good a/c. Like a ford focus, Honda civic, dodge neon, etc.
You can follow me.... but it's gonna hurt ;)

The curb was not literal. . .it was a figurative curb. . .

Oh. Gotcha. Then what Tim said! :D

I am going to be in the same situation in about 7 months. I can't believe it. That went fast. :(

I agree with Tim. You might want to round up three baby car-seats and pad lock them into place to prevent the her friends from riding along and distracting her.

I feel you brother. . .I feel you. She's had her license since March and I still tuck her in every night. . .

OK, so, Cat out of the Bag a little. The reason that I was thinking of another XJ was so that she could drive it while I work on the 7. . .and then I can crush Orville and swap over all the good stuff to the new XJ. . .Not that it matters though. My plans have change 22 times since Lunch.

Blame it on my A D D baby. . . :P

At any rate, I'd imagine that I'll be posting up with the latest member of the heard by Tuesday morning. . .

The 7 for the 'Con... Jimmy has a plan... or is it plans...or :?:
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

The 7 will be primarily for the mall and snow. . .as of today.

I really want to steal Lee's LJicon, slap some 35s on it and rock it to the 'con and beyon'

Seriously. . .I have determined the LJ Rubicon to be the champion of all stock Jeeps. . .ever.

However. . .I'me even considering some really goofy things like lifting Orville a little more, getting another trailer to tow around, supercharging the WK2. . .etc.

Flattery will get you, well, everywhere.

[LJcon? I like that, but I've taken to calling it a Jeepster. No one has stopped me yet.

A 94 22re 5 speed 4x standard cab yota just hit craigslist tonight for $1300 with a blown head gasket. Absolute worst case scenario its a brand new $350 head and $68 gasket set shipped to your door. My mom can do that fix in an afternoon.

Well. . .as of now, I'm sticking to the plan of getting a replacement for the popcorn popper. . .and I think I found one. More details tomorrow 8)

BTW: An XJ is hard to argue with for a kid car. 17 mpg in town, easy to work on and disposable.

my sister had one, they are good and if you get a late model they are quite comfy, if i wasnt running my dodge on used oil i would be more worried about the mpg on my Toyota

Hmm... I've got an '89 XJ Limited that I could let go of for cheap. The driver's window regulator needs to be replaced because some stupid mechanic decided to roll it all the way down (@!@$). There's a minute leak on the valve cover gasket and rear main (like, drip drip when hot, nothing when cold) It runs with a slight tick at idle, the egr to solenoid hose needs to be replaced (but runs fine without it), it could use new speakers, the windshield washer needs one new pump and the bottle to be put back together. The shifter cable needs adjustment, it won't go down to 1-2. One of the parking lights isn't working quite right, so maybe a headlight harness repair. It needs a new pitman arm side tie rod end and stabilizer bar needs a new bushing, so the steering wheel is not centered. But, the ball joints are in good shape and there's no "death wobble". It loves 75mph!

600 bucks, a visit to the auditor's office, and she's yours! Let me know ASAP. bradfordbrian@gmail.com
