Prescribed Burning in Naches Continues During Summer Months

NACHES— Fire and fuels managers on the Okanogan-Wenatchee N.F. continue the controlled burn within the Angel Underburn project area this summer. During burning activities, forest visitors may experience smoke and localized road and area closures in the Rattlesnake Creek Drainage.
The Angel Underburn is part of a landscape restoration project aimed to create a more resilient forest ecosystem. Fire is a fundamental part of a healthy forest and is vital for protecting and promoting plant communities and the wildlife that depend on them. “The practice of utilizing fire to improve the health of forest landscapes has been employed for ages. Today’s modern approach of controlled burning eliminates hazardous fuels responsible for catastrophic wildfires,â€
