AIR FORCE wtf??

Postby warrpath4x4 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 8:10 pm

Ok, i spent 6 years in the army national guard and have been out less than a year. I was thinking of going active duty air force as a fireman, so today i go up to tri cities and talk to the air force recruiter.

THE AIR FORCE IS NOT ACCEPTING PRIOR SERVICE........ ??? WTF

the recruiter said he doesnt know why but the air force only takes prior service people during a certain time frame in the year.

Well call either the Portland or Seattle recruiting office and ask for the manager. And then if that doesn't do much for you, call one of the US Senators offices and ask for some help. Or got talk with one of the other branches as they all use firefighters.

not every branch has firemen, the army has civillian firemen. the navy does. didnt see anything about it for the marines. and the air force does.

he told me it might be easier to go air guard then active duty, but the closest recruiter for the air guard is spokane or portland. so thats probably my next step but i would have to drive to spokane or portland once a month for drill, and its getting to be winter lol.

Navy only has civilians on the shore stations here in the US. All the ships and lots of the crash crews overseas are military. Of course I doubt you are in the market for going to sea.... :D

Ya I talked to a different recruiter for the airforce and got a better answer, still not one that works for me but. The airforce will take prior service but only if your prior MOS is the same as the airforce. And the airforce doesn't have tanks lol. They said I might have crossed over as some special vehicle mechanic but they only take prior service for that if you've had less than 3years prior service.

I'm going to look into the air guard after new years, just too much happening right now.
