Opening of Manastash/Naches When?

Postby RaggedOleMan » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:02 am

If memory serves me, it seems Manastash/Naches doesn't open until mid July. However, with the mild winter I was wondering if the opening date has been adjusted/modified. Anyone have any info on this?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Manastash trails (String, Tripod, etc) ever "close" for the winter months. They do groom the main road once you get a little beyond Ryders Camp, so that area of the Manastash does indeed close off to vehicles, but the main entrance to the trail system is before where they groom, so the trails are open as far as I know.

The Naches side, however, is closed off for the winter, but usually opens mid spring. I know it's open Memorial Day, if not earlier...
Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

That pretty much agrees with what I'm getting from another forum. Furthermore, the last "grooming" occurs on or about April 1st. Therefore the suggestion is that the trails are now open after April 1st. Except for the soggy side/FS 70-Naches

(EDIT 3/24/2010) Did a little recon to Manastash Campground on Saturday. 24-30" still on the ground. The main road through the campground was recently groomed. I suspect the 10-16" predicted from the week before came as expected. Below is a link to a recent photo of the campground. For some reason I couldn't post/upload it on here.
