Yellow Legged Frog Endangered Listing

Postby Grumpy » Wed Apr 30, 2014 6:15 am

Well, the frog has been listed as endangered down in Cali, so a huge chunk of the Sierra Nevada is about to become off limits. Smack in the middle of this travesty is the Rubicon Trail. I've never been, and it's looking like I may never get to. Karen Schambach of PEER has made it her life's work to get as much of the El Dorado closed as she can, and thanks to the "sue and settle" agreement between USF&W, Center for Biological Diversity, WildEarth Guardians and others, it seems she may get her wish. There were over 40,000 comments against this listing and the "science" used to foist it on the folks down there, and it has gone through anyway. I believe this has the potential to turn into a legal bloodbath, and will have some serious impact on the future of many things besides our chosen form of recreation in general. Grazing rights, water rights, most forms of recreation, those who depend on the forests for their livelihoods. Please be aware of this, as we are in danger of it happening up here.
