TriCity Raceway to be gone for good...

The old Tri-City Raceway, which occupies about 92 acres just outside West Richland's city limits, is being sold to the Port of Kennewick for $1.75 million. An official says the plans are to turn it into a center for wine-related business

I have to admit, I'm going to shed a little tear. That is where I spent my Saturdays (and some weeknights helping teams) through my high school and college years.
But, last time I saw a race there was from the left seat of a Cessna 172 on a night flight at about 4,000 feet, so I wasn't actually contributing to their coffers.

Doesn't to me, either. Every time Susan and I went out there, the stands were full. Still think Greg Biffle loaning Brad Rhodes a car to stay in the points was one of the best moves we ever saw out there...

My dad and I always went out there back when I was a kid, I remember once Biffle got stuck in a wreck and his car was done, he borrowed someone elses car and still won the main.

Before they paved the infield, we had Jeep races there at least once. . .

The bump to pass and like races on the 4th of July weekend prior to a great firework show are memories I'll keep.

I think we raced there 3 years,the first year I rolled and later broke the oil pump,the next year I stuck it in the water hole,and the last year I placed first in the long wheel base

How many places do folks need for drinking wine? The State of Washington has already given a multi-millions dollar grant to Prosser to build a wine monument.

I member going to the Treacherous Tri-oval with Curtis during hot steamy days when the chick-i-doos where dressed in their best Daisy Dukes and T-tops. King Beers were only two bucks and mullets ruled. Unfortunately I also remember the restrooms and the sights and sounds of a dozen drunks filling the air with the aroma of rented Budweiser.

Walla Walla has gone wine crazy, it is sickening ! The local collage now teaches winnery.They even built a seperate building to teach it in. Wineries went from 9, ten years ago, to over 200 now !? The price of land/housing has gone threw the roof ! They (wine ppl) are buying up all the land they can get their hands on. That is driving the prices too high for normal folks like me ! The average cost of a home being bult in Walla2 is $350,000 and UP ! My wife an I both work at the Penn and can not aford that. I, for one, am not happy the wine is coming to this valley ! My.02.....

My in-laws live in College Place and in the 1st 15 years, not much chance but the last 5 years. WOW, not a place affordable for retirement anymore.
