Here's a current and outstanding thread to read regarding the 35, 44 & F8.8. Given budget considerations there was a ton of support for the Superior Evolution Series Super D35. I'm not discounting what anyone on here has said, but, here's another angle...

Okay, there's 13 pages and 192 posts in the thread. It's a good LONG read...

Out of those options the only one worth it's weight in scrap iron is the 44. the 8.8 has a decent aftermarket support but it is still not a great axle overall. The 35 is pure and utter trash but the 44 is a good balance of ring & pinion, stock carrier, housing and stock shaft strengths. And it has the absolute best gearing options of all those as well.

There are only a few 44's to avoid, the scoutII version just because it is a typical IH oddball. (I don't wanna hear it grumpy it's true and you know it. ) The aluminum centered grand cherocar version and the newer rubicon version. The ruby's dual "44's" is just glorified 30/35's when you break down their construction.

:P Did you happen to notice how long the stock axle stayed in there? Or how long it took us to talk Nick into Waggy 44's for he and John's rigs...I rest your case

I never said it was a bad axle I said it is an IH specific oddity just like everything else that has that tractor badge on it. Small axle tubes, IH specific brakes and bearings.. Meh, I'll take a waggy 44 any day. Proper width, more common in all aspects parts included and easy to find.

Just a guess, but, seems to me you don't care much for the 35, Trashed One...you're not alone, I can see that. The 44/35/8.8 thing sure seems to stir things up on the various forums!

So, how bout' them Sea Hawks, eh?

The seahawks are terrible too but at least they shouldn't be ashamed of their terrible prowess like the engineers that designed the turdy five and the other genius's that decided it would be a good choice for a 4x4.

One option not touched on yet is the best one IMO... 2 wheel drive V6 Toyota tacoma... Same 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern and it's 60 1/2" wide. Incredible aftermarket support and super cheap. :D

Been real impressed my own self with Toyota axles. I have a wheelin' buddy who runs 35's on his 86' Toy. He switched from 37's but the switch had nothing to do with his axles. He's welded in back/Detroit up front.

So, who would set up Toys for a heep/Tj and for about how much?... Because that would be outta my skill range...

So So...how bout' the 2010 M's?

Up until last year I was running yota axles. Had everything from 33's to 42'' tsl's at the end and they help up surprisingly well.

The brackets are easy, pick up a bracket kit and I'm sure someone here on the board will burn it in place for ya.

Yup, absolutely nothing wrong with the toy rear end. I've been looking hard at that for stuffing in a cherokee. Plus it's easy to carry a spare pod so if you do blow one up it isn't a nighmare job to replace it out on the trail.........................
