Jeep Chair Fund Raiser Project

This shows what I was thinking for the Jeep Grill Chair. If we used 1-3/4 tube to tie together the grills and rockers, it might kind of resemble roll bar or tube-bumpers.
The rockers would be made from a couple of leaves from a stout spring pack -- two leaves each to reduce flex and hopefully keep the thing from falling backward.
Any other ideas?
Anyone want to come over Sunday and spit-ball ideas over a beer?

Any thoughts about running the support tube outside of the grills (right) or running the tube through the holes for the turn signals (left)? It might be easier to build/reassemble if the tubes were outside of the grill. However, it might look cooler/cleaner to run the tubes through the turn signal holes.

I think outside the grill. I like the look of the marker lights being untouched. Any thoughts on building a more traditional base and doing 2 rockers?

Try to vision this.... We take a grill and run extended frame rails out the front and tie them together with a light bumper.
The legs of the chair could connect to the bottom of the frame rails. The arms of the chairs could then tie in from the sides of the grill out and down to the frame rails.

I do too. Tubing would be clean and easy. And if you used some bendable 6063 aluminum, a whole lot lighter.

It's no Weber, but it's better than my Traeger for cooking steaks.

More still needs to be done, but I think we're past the hardest parts. Neither Tim or I have time to continue the work on this for a week or so. Any of the hot dog welders in the club are welcome to finish off the tack welds. Once welded, I'll finish the seat with oak slats and paint the frame. Tim came up with a cool and simple way to mount the grill so that it is easily removable.
The left arm is not completely finished...We pooped out.

are you going to do the rocker thing? i have a tire with a lot of tread that may be usable on the rockers?

i thought you were using the cj5 grill/s?

Al, after much scratch'en and stink'en, Tim and I decided the rocker idea would be to hard to make safe, lite-ish, and durable. The goal is to make a cool looking and comfy chair. The blue and green grills are better constructed for the design we figured out.
