what most people will be interested in is weather its a renix or ho motor

well i think it is a renix and it's a 1990, miles unknown cause the od does not work. my dad jsut got a xj with a long arm kit and he does not need the motor. but the trans and t-case are spoken for. all i know is that is was not started for a year then we jumped it and it started right up. it needs a tune and a fi set up that was not messed with.

French fuel injection set up. It actually works just fine, but has a little less top end than the HO injection does. Rumor has it that it is actually a little better on the low end of the powerband than the HO head/injection system.

As far as mileage goes, if it has good compression, a 4.0 will go over 300K no problemo. The early blocks had a really high nickel content so the cylinder walls are really, really tough.

If you get the wiring harness for it, that is a screamin' deal. Nice guy to work with too. He sold me my Sami.

Okay, so, a couple of maybe dumb questions. Would this make a good backup for when the 4.2 in the Scout starts getting tired? And, for the short term, will the intake and injection fit the old engine? The 4.2 seems to still be in good shape, but is carbed. Just letting my alleged mind wander here is all

if it has good compression it would make an awseome replacement for the Scout motor now dont know if the stuff will bolt up to your 4.2

Yes.. .complete replacement would be the way to go. I think you can swap the whole head over, but why. . .the tranny bolts up like it was MADE for that motor.. .LOL. . .
