What it started out as

Progress has been slow but things keep happening, not as fast as I would like but happening.

The front was stretched about 8". Moved the grill and axle forward 4" and 4" for the the added spring length. The rear will be moved back about 2". All the movement is to add an auto trans behind the 283 and still have something that looks like a driveline.

Motor mounts: These are to get rid of the front cross bar mount.

Finally got the engine to sit where I wanted.

Finding out if the grill, radiator, steering, and exhaust are going to play nice, and of course they won't. Anybody have a hood stretcher?


The Jeep also has a 2" body lift on it, reason the hood look sloped down. I'm hoping that it will disappear down the road but leaving it for ease of access at this point.

Well life has kind of been in the way lately, along with trying to get the truck running, so now back to the Flatfender.

Trans crossmember. Some of the material is a little lighter than I'd like but we'll see how it holds up. Also the engine is mounted using poly bushing on the frame, so the trans is also, at the same width. Again we'll see how this mounting method works, or tears anything up.

The two side brackets wrap around the frame.

trying something new and this is a LOT cheaper than $300 for the 1" dies.


Fun part is at first it doesn't want to stay at 90, but the more weld the more it pulls around


2" flare but trying to find something square to measure off, Ummmm, not going to happen.

Cool. Did you heat it with a torch to help it bend?
