The 2010 Washington State Trails Coalition (WSTC) Conference was held on Friday and Saturday October 22-23 in Tacoma Washington.
There was a good turnout, almost 200 attending waiting to hear what the key note speakers topics would be. Speakers were - Senator Jim Kastama, District 25; Peter Goldmark, State Public Land Commissioner; Rex Derr, Director of State Parks; Rodney Mace, Assistant Director, PNW Region, Forest Service, on behalf of Recreation, Heritage and Wilderness Resources; Dave Uberuage, Superintendent, Mt. Rainier National Park; and Kaleen Cottingham, Director, Recreation and Conservation Office. All acknowledged trails have become a vital part of Washington’s recreation landscape; all budgets seem to be in the forefront; and looking forward towards a positive future for trails – “planning and public outreach will be very important part of recreation.â€
