Operation Daily Driver or The Purple Shortbus

Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Done, (I think.) What size are the tires? (Probably done either way... 245/75R16s?)

They are 31 X 10.50s 15s, fairly new Goodyear Wranglers (not MT/Rs.). Too big for the Grand with no lift, but they've been self-radiusing (is that the term) the plastic moldings to the point where they almost fit.
They are in good shape, the rubbing hasn't hurt 'em much.
Sounds like a plan. PM me your address and I'll come by after I pick up my little one at school (11:15 in Kennewick) and you can eyeball my wheels and tires and I can look at what you've got.

Details... 1997 Grand TSi 5.2l V8. The real tires and wheels have been swapped for realer tire and wheels. Quadratrac all wheel drive with 4-lo. And, a really cool factory stereo.

Love to see all the Grands popping up. . .
Pretty much, just what it says. DD, school bus. God save us on the gas mileage, but it might be better than the Rubi. The plan was for Rubi wheels and stockish rubber, but the 245/75R16 don't seem to rub much sans lift or spacers, so the bigger than stock tires will probably remain. Mostly want to address all the minor issues the POs have ignored and make it a nice ride, pray that it goes a few years so we can go without car payments while Chris has her demo and I have my Jeep that I don't want to wear out.
Mostly it is going to be my beg, borrow, steal, horse trade rig, and that is already working out for me. If I trip across a budget boost, I'll do it, but never tell my wife. It'll probably get front recovery points so my wife can drive it within winching distance of where ever I get my Rubicon stuck on any future grocery store runs.

TNX. Then it is due for its second trans. I'll be cooler shopping soon. Yeah I figured awd would rock ice and snow on pavement. I hold out hopes that 4-lo behaves like true 4x4, but this is not my wheeler, so...

It doesn't, trust me on this. The center diff will allow one wheel to spin. If you look on the visor, it says 4lo can be used on the street for "maximum pulling power" or something like that. Built in slip, just what you want to see.
I had a 94 that ended up with 260k (6cyl), and the only reason I sold it was because everything was original and if something bad happed, I didn't want to fix it. Last I heard the rig was still going and the guy loves it.

You may be right, but I think the 96-98 Quadra-Trac has low-lock capability, meaning a hard gear transferred power in 4LO (front and rear drive shafts are locked at same speed in low range). I'll let you know this winter when I'm stuck at the mall.

Is this a strong enough install for front tow hooks?
