Another threat to NOVA funds?

Postby iaccocca » Tue Jun 21, 2011 1:58 pm

Initiative 1125 would block all non-highway use of State fuel tax money.
Could be a big problem, cutting off Nonhighway and Offroad Vehicle Activities (NOVA) account funding, DNR recreation funding (except the discover pass money), boating facilities and boater fuel refunds too.

Taken from Save Reiters FB page.

Is this a threat to NOVA funds? My initial reading say, "Yes."
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Yup, the gas tax portion of NOVA is screwed if this gets any traction!! Maybe the OHV folks (us) need to back this cull in a corner and explain a few things to him!!

I am sure many of you like me have seen the folks collecting signatures. Save our gas tax. Becareful folks before you sign. I had a discussion with one such fellow and they could not even tell me what the bill was he was just getting paid to collect signatures.

Here is some information you should know.
Initiative 1125 would block all non-highway use of State fuel tax money.

See link:
http://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/init...text/i1125.pdf

The result would be cutting off the ORV gas tax portion of the Nonhighway and Offroad Vehicle Activities (NOVA) account funding.
That is about 2/3 of your State ORV funds.

In addition to that, it would cut off all of the DNR recreational funding except for what they might get from the Discover Pass in the future.

The snowmobilers would lose the funding that comes from the portion of the gas tax that they pay.

Please let people know how unfair I-1125 is to all these taxpayers.

Happy trials,
