Doubler mount?

Postby bobracing » Thu May 15, 2014 3:28 pm

Anybody have any good theories on how best to mount an extra heavy and extra long Xfer?

Throw them out, I want to hear them.

I built a mount that bolted to the stock location on the AW4 and a Rourke type mount for the tailhousing of the 300. I know I still have the tailhousing mount, you are welcome to it. The trans mount was a simply plate that bolted to the trans with a piece of tubing and yj spring bushings in it.

See, I'm a little worried about having a mount on the trans and Xfer.
Having the extra mount won't allow the drivetrain to flex differently from the frame. Also heard the extra mount will add extra vibration or even crack the weak point. Having the cage mounted to the frame will help but I don't want a sold mounted cage.

I agree that's why I was planning to tie the support on the back of the 300 into the trans mount. Let the single mount do the work but the support would take the stress off the crawl box.
