Much to my surprise I heard the sound of my brothers Chevy just a hundred feet or so behind us. When I turned, this is what I saw.
Put a cable on him...
...but it just pulled the Jeep forward through the snow.
So..
we tied the Rubi to a tree.
We pulled him until most of the cable was back on the drum. By this time the TJ made the hill. The Chevy was still stuck so I had to reposition the Jeep and tie to a new tree. I tried to get the Jeep buried in the deep snow off the road to give more bite to the winch, figuring I would just winch out to my buddy's TJ when the operation was done.
Finally that and the road we built under the Chevy was enough and we got the pickup out. I asked my buddy to position his Jeep so that I could winch to it to free myself, but before he could get his Jeep moved I managed to walk the Jeep out. Amazing what those MTR's will do if you let them down to 9 or so pounds.
So, a couple more tugs here and there and we made down to the bottom of the hill where we had "had a another thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat."
Weiners roasted over a scrap wood bonfire.
That should have been the end of the adventure, but on the way out, in the dark (of course) the Bronco took a dive off of the road and got quite stuck. The TJ on 33's came back to give him a tug, but the Bronco would have none of it. I pulled in front of the Bronco and put my tow strap on him... useless. Left the tow strap attached from my rear bumper to his front axle and ran my winch cable out the front to a near-by tree; nothing. Ran the cable out further to get less wraps on the drum meanwhile the rest of the crew got to digging and using the hi-lift to move some of the snow from the front of the Bronco. Hit the button, took in the slack on the line, start to pull for real, BOOM. I need a heavier duty pull strap if I am going to run with these full size guys. Long story short (I know too late for that now) we eventually made it to pavement, aired up and pointed towards home. And I delivered my Jeeper chick to her mother's arms only about 6 1/2 hours after I said I would be home. Good times.
