1998 zj 5.9 limited

Postby Toolegit86 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 11:19 pm

well it was my dd and now it is gong to either be a part out or a buggy

we were driving away from my house doing like 10-15 mph and i stoped at a stop sign and then went out on to oie and like 20 yards from the stop sign i cought the soft stuff in the middle of the road and the front end took a dive and spun the jeep around and i cought the out side of the road where some snow was piled up. the funny thing was that the jeep stoped for a second and then the Suspension recoild and that cause us to flop it over the 2ft side of the road. and i was doing less then 15mph

Ouch! I assume everyone is okay.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

yeah i was the only one to get messed up. and that just cause of passed injurys. but the jeep still runs and drives just the window is shattered and the window frame is bent. we had to kick the passenger side window cause we were trapped upside down.

Wow, you're spooking me. My wife thinks I have mad driving skills in the snow, but it looks like it does not take too much to end up on your lid.
I hope you are still in good enough shape to enjoy the holidays.
Merry Christmas.

yea it was weird.. i never came close to even doing anything like this on the road before.. if the jeep was not lifted it would have not done this. and the thing that makes me mad is that when we slid the jeep actally stoped on the side of the road. then the lift recoiled and i turned in to it and punched it. then it just rolled. we were trapped up side down and had to punch out a window. thanks i think the holidays will still be awsome!

yeah... I had a 94 I'd lifted, true tracs, etc. The thing would go about anywhere, absolutely no problem at all in the traction department. How-some-ever there were a couple times on the trails that I noticed some really unsettling kinks with the lifted coil suspension. Off-camber stuff wasn't fun either. 98% of the time though things were just great. But I finally decided to get rid of it, and went back to leaf spring rigs. Just something about the 4 coil springs that sometimes they would feed each other....... really hard to explain but when I read your comments it just came right back to mind. Haven't seen anything like it either with the coil suspension short jeeps.

It's a lifted short arm thing... Once the short links are taken out of the flat factory angle they get all funny and loose feeling. ZJ's are the absolute worst feeling rigs to ride in with a lift.. A super high mileage stocker will ride just the same. You can feel the rig twist side to side right between the front and back seats as you drive down the road...
